Of somewhat normalcy is all I ask. No hassles, no problems, tantrums, bickering, issues, injuries..... I think you all can see where I'm going with this. Right down to the damn weather. Why oh why could it not be as predicted today, or even close. Sunny with a high of close to 50 degrees is a far cry from cloudy, dreary and barely in the mid thirties. It sucks out and Big Boy is about to lose his ever loving mind.
As you can see, life at the beach has been far from a vacation lately. Compliment of the federal government dragging their feet on the tax breaks, we are now *ever so patiently* waiting for the IRS to approve our itemized tax return so we can pay some bills around here. I know everyone thinks the middle class has money coming out of their ears but since everyone under the sun has their hand in my damn pocket looking for something, let me let you in on a little secret....WE DON'T!!! Shame on the government for delaying our refunds. People bank on that money to get them off to a good start in the new year. Most homeowners and property taxes and insurance premiums are do, let alone coming off from the holidays and this is the thanks we get for carrying everyone else's weight? Thanks.
The stress has been a real bitch and I think I'm going to lose it soon. I keep telling myself It's going to be alright, but I'm just not so sure anymore. Here I sit, pissing my Sunday away when I should be cleaning or doing something at least somewhat productive and guess what, this is what depression does to you. I've lost any desire to be social and it keeps getting worse.
Pity Party Over.

Yup
More snow. I definitely know I'm getting old because there was a time I would have been jumping out of my skin in excitement over all the snow we have gotten this winter. Now...not so much. The superintendent of Big Boy's school has gotten a bit closing happy and the kids are already going to school until the end of June and I'm just waiting to see what tomorrow is going to bring.
On a happier note, my in-laws are paying for 3 round trip tickets to Florida and we are leaving in two weeks...WOOT!!! It still hasn't quite sunk in yet that we're going on vacation. We need one so badly so the timing is just perfect. I can't wait to put on a pair of shorts and hippie shirt and just bum around for a week and forget about the cold doldrums of Jersey for a few days.
I was concerned about pulling Steven from school for the week but we didn't want to go when the entire country was on Easter break and neither hubby nor myself could get that week off of work so we didn't have much of a choice. EIther way, who cares? We are going on vacation and it's going to cost us next to nothing.
Off to watch the weather and pray this storm takes a different path because rain would be so much better than snow...

This Is Starting To Get Old
Let me start by saying, I really do love the rain. There is nothing I enjoy more than being home in comfy clothes on a nasty rainy day. Maybe because I'm able to justify laying around and doing nothing all day. Well, it seems like it has been raining here for months on end. We have been getting a few nice weekends mixed in here and there but overall, I just don't remember having it rain so often.
I'm also thinking that something about the weather patterns have been off. It's not unusual around here to have low clouds lingering around that will literally cling to the coast and make it look like a scene in some Stephen King book. Everything on the island will have this dreary damp mist and all you have to do is drive over the bridge about three miles west and the weather will be perfectly clear and sunny. Weird, right?
I know this isn't an exciting post but I was completely shocked when I went to let Lucy out before only to find it's raining yet again. Rumor has it, it's supposed to push out tonight and turn out to be a beautiful weekend but I'll believe it when I see it.
***I had to edit this to add it is absolutely gorgeous out!***

Well Damn
Why is it when I actually have time to sit here, I have nothing to say but the minute BB gets home or I'm at work, my mind goes a mile a minute with ideas. I guess I should start writing them down.
Like right now, I know there was something I wanted to talk about but I'll be damned if I can remember. I guess I should go anyway. I have a ton more errands to run and my sister in law is picking up BB since the hubby is working overtime. Maybe I should go check the weather too. Rumor has it, there is snow in the forecast. I'm sure we won't see a single flake but I may as well check.

I Should Have Kept My Mouth Shut
Remember a few posts ago when I was bellyaching that it was unseasonably warm. Uh, yeah. The temperature dropped about 25 degrees in an hour today and the wind is gusting over 50 mph. So....figure it's about 0-5 degrees with the windchill. These freak snow showers keep moving through and everything is now frozen. Should make for an interesting NYE on the roads. It's damn cold out there.
As soon as I walked in from work I turned on the fireplace and put on my thick fleece pajama bottoms. Hell, I'm not going out so I might as well be warm and cozy. Hubby picked up some great snacks and even though I'm not much of a drinker (anymore) I think I'll make myself a mojito later. Why not, right? Hopefully, we can make it to midnight.

Welcome to Tropical NJ
What the hell is this? It's not supposed to be 65 degrees in December. Sure, it's a nice break from the cold weather but what cold weather? I think we have had maybe three or four days of real bitter winds...maybe? I miss winter. I would like a good old fashioned snow storm, preferrebly on a Friday night so I don't have to worry about anyone driving to work in the morning. Big Boy is three and I think he has only played in the snow once and that's if you can even call two measly inches of snow fun.
Hello......................winter...where are you?

Goodnight Pool
I feel so guilty right now. Big boy is asleep and we are closing the pool. He is going to be so sad when he realizes there is no more swimming this summer for him. He is not feeling well right now so he wouldn't be able to swim until at least Wednesday and the temperature is supposed to drop into the fifties the next few nights. The water will be way to cold for him....right?
I am trying to justify this anyway I can. I feel so bad.

6:47am Saturday
It's Saturday morning. There is no reason anyone should have to be up this early getting ready for work. Damn, TS Hanna will be here by noon and I just want to stay home with big boy and hubby and have a fun rain day. Of course, the road I take to and from work floods terribly, and I know I am going to have the worst time getting home.
Rant over. I'm just tired and cranky.

Here she comes...
So, Hanna is making her way up the east coast. Ugh. I know by the time she gets here tomorrow she will only be a tropical storm but again, ugh. Seriously, everything floods here if we get a twenty minute down pour so I can't image what is will be like after the 4-6 inches of rain which is forecasted.
Alright, I am done venting. I am off to spread my cheer and share my wisdom with others!
