Every Last Bit

I'm not sure what happened this fall but the weather has been so wonky and out of sorts that when we do get a decent day, we really have to take advantage of every minute.  Usually fall is the most beautiful time of the year here but the rain just won't let up.  Even though the temperatures have been holding steady on the warmer side, it doesn't mater if you can't get outside and enjoy it.

With that being said, a  few weeks ago we had one of those incredible fall days that you wish would never end.   We decided to head up to the beach for a little dinner picnic and  Big Boy had such a great time.  He and Lucy really are the best of friends!  He just adores that dog and she is so good with him.  Every picture we take of the two of then is cuter than the last.   One day I'll have to block out his face and put p the pictures of him riding Lucy like a horse.   That dog really is a saint and speaking of horses......

Big Boy went wild when he saw the horses!.  I always forget that you're able to take your horses on the beach in the off season.  Only about fifteen miles inland  from here there are loads of horse farms.  It's hard to explain other than fifteen miles is a world of difference.  Truthfully, hubby and I have talked about moving inland but........just can't do it.  Even though we're being property taxes out of here, I still don't think we can do it.

I love the pictures of Big Boy and Hubby standing at the water's edge together.  They look like they are having the best conversation ever.   This was just (in my mind anyway) the perfect fall day at the beach.  For the past week or so when I would be having a hard time at work or start stressing over bills or life in general, I would think about this day and immediately mellow out.

Sigh.  Only seven more months until summer.  I really hope we can make it that long.  We don't take fancy vacations, live in a ritzy house or buy expensive cloths.  We are thankful for what we have and we'll take a perfect day at the beach everyday.

A Little More Lucy

I realized I haven't updated on how well things are going with our new dog Lucy in a while. I think we have finally hit the dog jackpot. I have no idea what happened to this dog before we rescued her but for the life of me, I don't understand how anyone could have gotten rid of her. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She is housebroken, command trained and just perfect. Of course, I hope I didn't just jinx myself by typing that.

A good family friend of ours in a Vet and we brought her in to see him about two weeks ago. She weighed almost 60lbs, which is great. She is finally starting to put on some weight. We also had all her shots updated. Even though we were sure she had gotten them by her previous owners we figured better safe than sorry. The jury is still out on this but from what everyone can tell, she is truly a mutt's mutt. She has Mastiff, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Boxer and possibly some Pitbull in her. Either way, she's mine and I don't care what kind of dog she is.

Lucy thinks she's a lapdog and tends to nose her way into every situation but the moment you tell her to go lay down...that is exactly what she does. Her favorite spot is on the floor, right in front of the fireplace. She is great with Big Boy but he tends to get rough with her so until he learns to be gentle, we never allow them to be near each other unsupervised and only in small doses. All I know is I'm very happy Lucy found us and we are able to give her a nice home.

A Little Lucy Update.

Wow! We really hit the animal shelter lottery. Lucy is turning out to be such a great dog. She did try to sneak up on the sofa last night when she didn't think we were looking but, can you blame her? So far, everything is going really well and we are so happy to have found her. Part of me is waiting for the other shoe to drop but we can only hope she stays this way. She has also started to put on a little weight which I am very happy about since she was a bit thin.

I would love to be able to stay home and play with her and Big Boy all day but unfortunately, I have to leave for work.

Name Change!

Since we have only had the dog since Saturday we are officially changing her name to Lucy. Lucy seems to be more of a better fit for her. So, everyone be sure to welcome Lucy to the beach!

I Would Like You All To Meet...

Zoey! At least that is what we are calling her right now. We rescued Zoey from the Ocean County Animal Shelter yesterday afternoon. It's no family secret that I'm not an animal lover but she is such a sweet dog Of course, I'm sure it may not have been the wisest decision at the present time considering BB is starting school next week and Christmas is right around the corner but I'm still glad we did it. Honestly, I have to think someone is looking for this dog. She is both housebroken and trained with commands.

Next comes the big question...what is she? The people over at the shelter really didn't have much info on her other than she has been there for two weeks and is very friendly. Hubby seems to think she is a boxer/pit bull mix.

Once I am able to snap a few better pictures of her I'll be sure to post them. I think she is a sweet dog and both BB and Hubby just love her so I really hope she works out.
