So Excited! This is one of those things that is floating around Facebook. I've noticed a few of my friends posting music videos with random numbers above them. Since I'm a music snob, if I didn't care for the band I kept right on going. Well, curiosity got the best of me and I discovered I'm super crazy into this! Each day is a new song challenge and I'm really excited to see just how far back into the "archives" I can remember. Let's not forget I've been to quite a few Dead shows in my day. Here is a list of the 30 day challenge categories! Looks fun!

29 Again.....
Once again, it's that time of year where I find myself "celebrating" yet another birthday. Yay. It's not that I don't like birthdays, I just don't like my birthday. My co-workers found out about it this year, luckily I had been able to hide it from them the past few years but somehow my facebook profile let the cat out of the bad and a few people took notice before I was able to "fix" it.
It was a nice day after all though. My co-workers bought me lunch and then hubby and big boy took me out to dinner. The best part about dinner (besides the key lime pie) was it cost practically nothing after using a few gift cards I has squirreled away:) Hubby gave me my gift a few weeks ago. I've been wanting some sort of tablet but couldn't decide which one. There was no way we could afford the Xoom and I was hesitant to get a color nook and hack it with and Android OS however as luck would have it, Apple released the iPad 2 which made the price of the first generation drop to a rather affordable level....
I must say, I never realized how cool an iPad actually was until I owned one. Unfortunately, I feel incredibly guilty owning one and I'm constantly trying to justify it. Big Boy loves loves loves it so at least there is a huge positive. Either way, I can't believe I have one and I'll be back tomorrow with my list of must have apps!

Some Great Music
I know I've been quite the slacker lately when it comes to blogging. The few hours of home time after work seem to be flying by and before I realize it, it's after eleven and time for bed. I have been loitering around YouTube a bit though and have come across some great music. The artists aren't new by any means but I could get in to listening to a lot more of this guy, Josh Ritter. Apparently he has been flying under the radar but had a strong following. His song "Good Man" was used in an episode of House and since hen, he has become pretty popular.
I love watching how genuinely happy he seems...all the time. You can tell by his smile he loves what he does for a living and he just looks like he would be a fun guy to get to know. Definitely some music I'm looking to listen to a lot more of in the future.
This next kid is absolutely one of the most talented musicians I have ever come across. I'm a huge music person and I was completely blown away when I saw this clip. His name is Jake Shimabukuro and what this kid can do with a Ukulele is breathtaking. Being a George Harrison fan, I was intrigued when I saw a link for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" done on the Ukulele. I couldn't figure out how someone could replicate the string work on a four string instrument? I WAS WRONG. He's been around for sometime but for some reason I never checked him out. I'm thinking it's because I figured the Ukulele wasn't going to hold my interest for too long, know what I mean? Anyway, this clip is a few years old but worth watching over and over. Keep an eye on his hands when he moves into the meat of the song....Amazing!
Enjoy the music!

Should I Charge Them Rent?
The weather is finally breaking which means Big Boy is starting to feel like a caged rat in the house. He would be outside from sunrise to sunset if I would let him. Lucky for him, Hubby and I have been wanting to get outside and finish up some work in the yard. We are planning on opening the pool next week so today we focused on the back yard.
I was cleaning up the deck when I kept hearing birds chirp. I knew it sounded like babies but there was no way it was coming from a nest in one of the trees. I just happen to look up at the right time and spotted this little baby bird sticking it's head out of a small hole in my house. Interesting. I informed Hubby we had a family of birds living in the soffit and after a few grumbles under his breath he went over to check it out. The next thing I knew he was ran for the camera and was able to catch some really amazing photos of the Mother feeding her babies. Introducing our family of Sparrows...

I just can't get over how cool these pictures are! It was so wild to watch both the male and the female taking turns feeding the babies. I'm also impressed by Hubby's photo skills. Every time he saw one of them, he dropped what he was doing and grabbed the camera. Big Boy got a kick out of it too except he doesn't quite grasp the concept of being quiet so the birds were spooked at one point and we had to quickly set his attention to something else in the yard.

Now comes the next dilemma...after the birds leave the nest, do we patch up the hole or let it be for them to come back next year? I know having birds living in your soffits isn't exactly the best thing for your house but I like my houseguests and just may welcome them back next year.

I need to give my little sparrow family a name but for some reason my mind is drawing a blank. Any ideas? Now on the other side of the house, we have a much bigger problem. Carpenter bees have invaded those soffits and they are not welcome to stay. We have tried everything short of an exterminator to get rid of them. I've heard WD-40 works so I may have to give it a try. Luckily, they are on opposite ends of the house so I know I can't hurt my new friends. Check back often, I hope to update with new pics in a few days!

My Mommy's Christmas Tree
Just thought I would share a few pictures of my parent's Christmas tree. I was really happy when they decided to put it up this year. Thank goodness Big Boy has been really good about it and has not tried to tackle it yet.

Everyone in our family has their own picture ornament. I actually really love my parents Christmas tree. It was so fun decorating it as a kid even though everything had it's own special place and the candy canes all had to be facing the same way. I do have one gripe...I noticed my ornament picture is way down on the bottom. I'm assuming this problem will resolve itself before my next visit. Cough*hint*cough.

A Little More Lucy
I realized I haven't updated on how well things are going with our new dog Lucy in a while. I think we have finally hit the dog jackpot. I have no idea what happened to this dog before we rescued her but for the life of me, I don't understand how anyone could have gotten rid of her. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She is housebroken, command trained and just perfect. Of course, I hope I didn't just jinx myself by typing that.
A good family friend of ours in a Vet and we brought her in to see him about two weeks ago. She weighed almost 60lbs, which is great. She is finally starting to put on some weight. We also had all her shots updated. Even though we were sure she had gotten them by her previous owners we figured better safe than sorry. The jury is still out on this but from what everyone can tell, she is truly a mutt's mutt. She has Mastiff, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Boxer and possibly some Pitbull in her. Either way, she's mine and I don't care what kind of dog she is.

Help a Friend Out....
Someone I know is trying to win a Wii for her kids for Christmas and we all know what it's like to be in a financial crunch so, be a pal and vote for Chelsie Butts!
